Gouaches and tempera
Far removed from childhood and school memories, gouache is a very particular medium, prized for
its flexibility under the brush and its deep,
matte appearance after drying. I enjoy making it from pigments, using tempera or fresco techniques, depending on the desired effect. Its opacity also allows for endless retouching, even though its application encourages a rapid brushstroke.
